Hello again -

I hope this letter finds you and your families in good health.  As our country finds itself going through some tough economic times, we are seeing a resurgence in gardening and healthier lifestyles.  Fresh fruits and vegetables are in the news almost daily.  The safety and satisfaction of growing your own foods are an obvious choice.

I have had a chance to evaluate the newer varieties of ever-bearing strawberries, Albion and Seascape, again this year.  They are certainly impressive for summer and fall fruiting.  Farm markets and families looking to extend the strawberry season, should really look into these varieties.  After seeing the Albion and Seascape performance, this will probably be the last year of handling the Tribute and Tristar.  The new Junebearing variety of AC Wendy (plant patent 18,340) was test marketed for the first time on the farm.  It fruited earlier than the Earliglow.  The flavor was good, but in my opinion, nothing beats the flavor of the Earliglow strawberry.

In closing, if you find yourself in SW lower Michigan, please feel free to stop by the farm.  We will be happy to show you our fields, facilities, equipment, and help you with your strawberry and asparagus enterprise.

Yours for a good season,

Bill Krohne
