Hello again. First of all, I'd like to thank all of our customers for choosing us for your strawberry and asparagus plant needs.
This season was somewhat challenging, at least in southwest Michigan. Once again we had very warm weather for our asparagus and strawberry harvest season only to cool off after our season was finished about July 5. We were still able to harvest our strawberries from May 28th until July 5th with the use of multiple varieties that ripen at different times.
On our farm, we rely on AC Wendy and Earliglow for our start up. Jewel is our berry in highest demand once it is available and we finish with Clancy or AC Valley Sunset. Row covers are placed on AC Wendy to get us started even earlier. We find our most successful seasons are also our longest ones and we try to extend our harvest until our customers can obtain blueberries and sweet corn for their farm markets.
Next year we will harvest Galletta for the first time as we had good reports as far as flavor, size, and yield. Plant supplies and quality look very good for 2016, however some varieties will sell out early. Please order early for best selection. Again thank you for choosing Krohne Plant Farms for your nursery needs.
