About Us

 Hello,

We'd like to take a moment to thank you for your business.  We are fortunate to have so many wonderful families, home gardeners, farmers, and friends as customers and consider it an honor to be trusted to supply your plant needs.

Here at Krohne Farms we have been selling nursery stock strawberry and asparagus plants for over 40 years, but our family has been farming for much longer than that.  Our first grapevines were planted in 1907 and since then we've farmed a little bit of everything, however our passion has always been strawberries and asparagus.  We're now in our 4th generation as farmers on the same land here in Southwest Michigan, with the 5th generation in training.   If you stop by our fresh produce stand in June you'll likely be helped by one of Bill’s granddaughters (ages 5 and 7) who are our quality-control experts.

If you've never considered growing asparagus before, you may want to give it some thought.  It's one of the easiest perennial crops to grow and a well-tended asparagus bed can last 20+ years.   We're excited to offer Guelph Millennium this year, which has taken over as one of the main commercial varieties planted today.  It is close to 100% male plants, making its yields much higher than other varieties.  We have plenty of Jersey Knight available, which we love for its hardiness and disease tolerance.  Our Heirloom asparagus (similar to Mary Washington) is perfect for home gardens and the Purple asparagus is always a beautiful novelty option for home and market use.

We are currently sold out of the Archer and Galletta varieties, but have plenty of our other varieties available.  We recommend AC Wendy (earliest), Earliglow (best flavor), or Honeoye (largest size and yield) if you’re looking for an early season alternative.

Feel free to call or email us any time.  We are always happy to talk and answer questions.  We hope your winter is joyful and restful as we look forward to another productive Spring planting season.
